I decided that it was at last time for me to join the myriads of people out there that call themselves bloggers, and incorporate a blog into my site. Even though this site has existed in some form or another for a couple of years now, i have so far made the conscious decision not to include a blog. The main reason for this was that i did not believe it would satisfy one of the golden “rules” of blogging - namely, blog only if you have something useful and interesting to talk about. i.e. Content is king!

What is deemed to be useful and interesting is of course open to interpretation - A short while ago, while google-ing the names of people from years gone by, i discovered that a few people i know from secondary school had, like I, taken an interest in design and development for the web and set up websites.

Constantinos N., Constantinos M. and Loucas were all in my year and i have not spoken to any one of them since we graduated 6 years ago. It was therefore nice to look through their sites and find out where they are and what they are up to. More recently, both Constantinos and Constantinos incorporated blogs into their sites. Even though Constantinos M.’s blog concentrates on Finance, a topic i don’t particularly know much about, i still read what he has to say. I doubt i would have returned to a blog concentrating on this topic if i had stumbled across it through a site like Technorati but the particular combination of topic and author make the blog both useful and interesting and one to which i return.

Constantinos N.’s blog covers a wider range of topics and is much closer to the kind of blog i would normally read anyway. The fact that we share, in part at least, a common background seems, for some hazy reason, to make the blog more interesting.

So, if our common background leads me to read what they write and find it interesting, there exists the possibility that they, and possibly even others, might also be interested in reading what i write. What’s more, the process of transforming an idea from the form it has in ones mind to a form succinct enough to make sense to another, i believe lends clarity to the idea itself. I cannot say at this stage whether the blog will indeed grow and if so what direction it will take but then i doubt many people that decide to blog have the answer to that at the outset. For now at least, that’s the opening post done and dusted. Phew!

For anyone intentionally or un-intentionally arriving at the blog section of this site and reading this, be warned that the configuring and styling of the blog is a work in progress. While i create a custom theme to fit in with the style of the rest of the site, strange things may (and almost certainly will) happen. Icons and images might vanish and things might appear mangled up but it should all be put right pretty soon and more useful content will hopefully follow. Thanks for stopping by.
